tempation or inspiration? You decide

You don’t have to be a knitter to appreciate Kaffe Fassett’s colour sense. Here’s a peek at some of the luscious colours in his new “Exotics” line of sock yarn for Regia.

But if you are a sock knitter, particularly one who’s been trying to cut back on her yarn purchases, this could be a dangerous thing indeed.
And if you’re just a creative sort, just sit back and enjoy the eye candy. =)

I’ve decided
August 19, 2008 | Category: off the top of my head | Comments Off
that rather than feel badly that I don’t have the time inclination content to update this blog more often, I might actually just start making more frequent postings. In fact, this may just become a bit of a virtual bulletin board. So… with that in mind, hopefully you’ll see a few more posts.
What kind of posts, you ask? Things that make me happy. Things that inspire me. Things I want to share with my friends.
Hopefully this experiment will work.

Not much going on here. So… I figured I’d post one of my favorite happy songs in hopes that it makes someone else smile, too.
Gotta love Great Big Sea. =)
Hey, we always need ways to brighten up our Mondays, don’t we?

Made it back from CT in one piece (with a short detour to Rhode Island), and haven’t done much other than finish up some socks.

The pair of socks is for a friend. The single sock is probably for me. I just wanted to play with the yarn, and try out some different ways to work a heel, so I worked this pattern out.
Details?
The brown/fuchsia/lime socks are Undulating Rib Socks (adapted for toe-up) in Knit Picks Essential sock yarn, Meadow Multi colorway. Knit using Magic Loop method on one long size 1 circ. Loving Magic Loop, adore the Knit Picks needles and yarns. This is the second pattern where I’ve preferred “wrong” side of a sock to the right, and I think that if I knit this pattern again, I’m going to try turning the patterned part around.
The striped socks are an improvised pattern in Kroy Socks Jacquards, Summer Moss colorway. Started toe-up on two circs, went to Magic Loop when the second Undulating Rib sock was done.
Why was I in RI? To do some work training. I like being able to travel for work, but I’m glad I don’t do it all the time. That said, this trip was particularly nice. Good company, and I even got to see some of Providence (Caserta’s Pizza - serious YUM!).
That’s all she wrote for now, folks. Got another sock to finish… and Olympic events to watch. Hey, I might even do something exciting like laundry.

Getting it Done… in a Clutch
July 24, 2008 | Category: is it polymer or polymerde?, mixed bag, woolgathering | 1 Comment
Sorry for the silence. No, I didn’t fall into the ice maker never to be seen again, but I haven’t had much to show, I suppose. There are only so many “finished sock” posts one can make, y’know? So, while I did finish up the lovely Seaweed Socks in the Caribbean Mirage colourway, I didn’t take a picture of them… yet. And I’ve successfully done a toe-up Magic Loop version of the Undulating Rib sock pattern from Interweave’s Favorite Socks, but won’t put up a pic until I’ve finished the pair.
And there’s been some polymer play, but nothing really finished, so no pics there.
Anyhow, I’m heading up to Connecticut tomorrow for the CT Guild’s Clay ConneCTion retreat, and made up a special item for my raffle prize donation. I decided that since my two favorite things to do are knit and make clay pretties, it would be great to combine them into one project. So I knitted up a modified version of my favorite One Skein clutch, felted it, and embellished it with some original buttons. Then.. I got overambitious and lined the thing. This involved actual sewing, which isn’t one of my stronger skills.
But… all’s well that ends well, and the finished product is quite lovely.
